IS XINANALI ACCESSIBLE TO PEOPLE WITH LIMITED MOBILITY?
Unfortunately not. On the contrary, getting to Xinanali requires a level of physical fitness. Xinanali was designed for people in search of a bit of adventure. To get there, you will have to travel by panga, a small (25-30 ft) fiber glass mexican boat with an outboard engine. You will most probably wet your feet and knees as you will jump off the boat on to the beach a la Indiana Jones! Our retreat center is built on a very steep terrain and there are many, many stairs, and no elevator, which is let’s face it,
a once in a lifetime opportunity to get in shape.
HOW DO I GET TO XINALANI?
Firstly, fly into Puerto Vallarta, then travel to the city.
In order to get to Xinalani, you will have to take a boat, there’s no access by road.
Is there Wi-Fi?
Since April 2022, our wifi connection has greatly improved. Free high-speed wireless internet
is now available in all guest rooms, yoga spaces, the reception, the restaurant,
the bar, the pool and the beach terrace.
Most of the time, the internet speed is enough for Facetime, Zoom or Netflix.
However, please remember we’re in a remote jungle location in Mexico,
and you might have interruptions or slower internet speed.
Is there cellular phone service?
We do get a decent cell phone service from major Mexican operators.
Guests report that both AT&T and Verizon work all right.
Is the beach swimmable? Is it safe?
Yes, the beach is swimmable and safe most of the time. During the winter, from November to March, we’re exposed to North Swells that give us great waves, perfect for surfing. Those waves can be intimidating to some swimmers. The water is clean and beautiful.
Is the ocean warm enough to swim?
The water is warm enough all year long: low 70s in the winter, and mid-80s in the summer.
Is the beach sandy or rocky?
We are very fortunate at Xinanali because we have immediate access to two wonderful beaches. The one in front of the resort has both sand and great inspiring animal-shaped rocks.
It also has private natural coves.
The other beach on the left-hand side when facing the ocean is pure sand. That beach gets a very nice surf break in the winter season from November to April, surfers enjoy that beach a lot.
Are there long chairs and umbrellas on the beach?
Yes, Xinanali has a nice beach club with long chairs, and umbrellas.
Do you have a swimming pool or a hot tub?
Yes, we have a swimming pool.
AND if you’re feeling like a sweat, we can also offer you a
rustic steam bath in our traditional temezcal.
We are vegan, raw foodist, etc? What's on your menu?
Although we try to cater to mainstream yogis (vegetarian with fish and sea food), our menu may be adapted to our guests’ needs, please send us your specifics at least two weeks before your arrival. We can cater to vegan, raw, gluten free requests. Some requests may trigger an additional fee.
Ask us for a sample of our Menu to have an idea of what will be served during your stay at Xinalani.
We need animal protein; we like to eat meat, is that possible at Xinalani?
As a matter of fact, and due to popular demand, we have modified our menu to include more fresh fish, seafood, and occasionally some chicken. Please note: our kitchen does not serve red meat.
I’m allergic to gluten, mushrooms, peanuts, etc.
We can take of your diet restrictions, PLEASE let us know of your food allergy at least TWO weeks before your arrival to the retreat, and we’ll make sure your diet restrictions will be catered to.
If we want to leave a tip, how does that work?
Tipping is customary in Mexico. You may leave gratuities at check-out and the management will distribute them to the staff evenly. Min recommended $15 US per day and per guest.
If you paid early bird pricing, the tip is not included. Please tip the staff
If you paid after (date) a minimal tip ($15 per day) was included
Yes you can through PINRA. You will submit your documents to Interpretek who has a minimal fee for processing CEUS. The documents will be an attachment in the welcome email. You must submit PS and GS separately

“Yoga is like music: the rhythm of the body, the melody of the mind, and the harmony of the soul create the symphony of life.”
—B.K.S. Iyengar, Light on Life
The system of yoga known as “Iyengar Yoga” was created and developed over 75 years ago by Yogacharya B.K.S Mr. Iyengar devoted his life to the evolution of his approach to yoga, based on the traditional eight limbs of yoga taught over 2500 years ago by the sage Patanjali. Mr. Iyengar believed that yoga goes beyond a physical discipline- it is also an art, a science, and a philosophy, and he developed his method with this in mind.
Iyengar Yoga is accessible for all ages and all body types. Its focus on precision, timing, sequencing, and the use of props helps the practitioner develop awareness in any asana.
A worldwide, standardized instruction system differentiates Iyengar Yoga from other methods. Certified Iyengar Yoga Teachers (CIYTs) undergo rigorous training and evaluation to earn their certifications. Only CIYTs are permitted to describe their method of instruction as Iyengar Yoga. CIYTs are trained to provide clear demonstrations of each posture. They are skilled in using simple props to maximize the opening and awareness of the body, providing support to the less flexible and extra extension to the more advanced student.
Teaching is oriented toward gradual but steady progress rather than quick results. Through skilled instruction and practice, students learn to penetrate beyond the physical body to the inner kosas (layers) of mind, energy, and spirit, gaining vitality, clarity, and calm.
Iyengar Yoga is a powerful and sophisticated discipline that can be practiced at all stages of life. Its benefits are far-reaching and can assist the practitioner in all aspects of daily life. (IYANUS)
Hi I'm Jen
The yearly retreats started as a dream to create a space where interpreters can take off their work masks and deeply reconnect to themselves, restore their battered nervous systems, and find a supportive community.
Our community has slowly grown over the last few years with an 80% return rate of attendees.
I have nearly 30 years of interpreting experience and now integrate yoga and holistic health expertise to empower interpreters for a thriving career. With over 15 years of teaching yoga, Level 3 Iyengar Yoga Certification, and Ayurveda Health Coach, my programs uniquely support the interpreter community. I am the only mentor and teacher to offer one-on-one and a membership just for interpreters.
